Summary

A day of adventure and discovery is in store for all the family at Conkers, the major visitor attraction that sits within a 120-acre site at the heart of the National Forest. On land that was previously home to Rawdon Colliery’s mineshafts and spoil heaps, now sits a family-friendly, forest-themed adventure venue that includes a barefoot walk, adventure play area, a fairy labyrinth and activity course.

Visitors can take a ride on the Conkerchoo train between the Discovery and Waterside Centres and try out their performing skills on the amphitheatre stage. On warm, sunny days, a popular destination is Conkers Cove, a splash park that features interactive bubbling jets and other fun activities all powered by movement. From the great outdoors to the great indoors, Conkers hosts a 4D cinema experience and numerous hands-on activities helping visitors get a better understanding of the natural world surrounding them.

Special events are arranged throughout the year and there are hospitality, private party and corporate opportunities available to book. For education, Conkers offers an excellent environment for learning and has been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.

Highlights

There is something for everyone within Conkers, whether you want to run, walk, climb or simply relax in nature. You can enjoy a tree top walk, making your way through a moving forest canopy at night to the mines and caves beyond. A more recent feature includes a 2022 Gold Award-winning Chelsea Flower Show garden that celebrates the crucial relationship between soil, fungi and plants, which together form the basis of resilient forest ecosystems.
