National Forest Volunteers

National Forest Volunteers

Summary

There are lots of opportunities to help us look after our sites, wildlife and communities in the National Forest.

Whether its caring for our sites in The Heart of the Forest, an area in the centre of the National Forest of around 10 square miles, including Albert Village Lake, Diana Memorial Woodland, Conkers, and more, with the aim of making these more accessible, raising their profile, and managing and protecting the wildlife for future generations to enjoy. Or you can join our National Forest Way Rangers and help Help look after our 75 mile  walking trail that flows through the National Forest, and our circular walking routes.

Activities

  • Woodland management (including selective thinning and coppicing)
  • Pond restoration
  • Path management
  • Citizen science projects (for example, species recording)
  • Site furniture building (including woodworking or building using natural materials)
  • Meadow management
  • Litter picking
  • Trail maintenance
