Summary
With far-reaching views over the Trent Valley and a mixture of habitats to explore, Foxley Wood is a great place to enjoy some time in the countryside. This Woodland Trust owned wood is close to a number of other local Trust sites in the National Forest, and consists of 29-hectares of former farmland on the edge of Linton, in the Mease Lowlands. The site is now planted with oak, ash, alder, willow and birch. Woody shrubs such as hazel are mixed throughout to create a native woodland. A one-hectare area, designed by a local school, is set aside for educational use. This includes an all-abilities path and a pond/wetland. Two benches designed by a local artist are provided, perfect for a picnic break.
