Summary

Planted in 2007, Poppy Wood lies in a cluster of woodlands forming the northern gateway to the National Forest. The woodland hosts a mosaic of ash, oak, hazel and hawthorn trees and benefits from fantastic views across the surrounding countryside.

Poppies, after which the wood is named, are seen in the summer along with a variety of other flowers. The wood is so popular with dog walkers it could be called ‘Puppy Wood’. Surfaced and grassy trails guide you through the Forestry England-owned woodland which also includes picnic benches for a welcome rest.
