Summary
Coalville Adventure Park is an important urban woodland, 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre, off Linden Way. Formerly a landfill site, the area has been transformed into an important habitat for wildlife with more than 8,400 trees planted in the last decade. There is a circular walk with a path that then leads across the railway line to the neighbouring wildlife site, Nature Alive. Around the woodland site and floral displays, there is seating and play equipment. The woodland includes alder, white birch, ash, oak, larch, poplar and pine.
To mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, North West Leicestershire District Council planted six new oak trees in the park - one for each decade of the Queen’s reign. The park is also home to the Jubilee mosaics – a series of mosaics created in 2012 by Nottingham artist Julie Vernon that complement the trees.
